Brent Simmons, creator of NewsGator’s NetNewsWire iPhone news reader has been busy working on a new iPhone framework called TapLynx. With TaoLynx, even non-programmers can generate topic-focused media applications for the iPhone.
According to NewsGator’s Brent Simmons:
“The idea behind TapLynx is that you can take a collection of feeds and some artwork, make choices about colors and gradients and behavior (all in a configuration file you edit), then create an iPhone app. Without doing any programming.
But you can do programming if you want to — use TapLynx as the base and add more features. (In fact, that’s what I’m doing with NetNewsWire 2.0 for iPhone — it’s a custom app built on TapLynx.)”
The goal of TapLynx is to help agencies, developers and designers to develop customizable and unique iPhone apps quickly and easily, without learning Cocoa or dealing with messy code. The ‘All Things Digital App’ and ‘Variety.com App’ are build using TapLynx which is behind award-winning NetNewsWire for iPhone.
Apple had a deal with AT&T to sell i-Phone until 2008, when Apple started selling its smartphone. Last August, both the companies decided to extend the partnership through the end of the year.
Now, AT&T wants to extend the partnership for another two year, AT&T talks with Apple to keep the deal until 2011. Apple has sold above 17 million i-Phones, since its debut which is lesser than two years. In the second half of 2008, it sold 4.3 million i-Phone, 40 percent of who were new to AT&T.
Apple is willing to offer a $300 subsidy for each i-Phone sold. If AT&T was willing to go that far, then Apple stands to clean up by negotiating contracts with other carriers.
Last month, AT&T announced plans to sell iPhone 3Gs without a two-year contract for $599 and $699, a move that Apple quickly duplicated at its own stores.

Amazon unveiled its free application for iPhone and iPod touch that helps to download and read ebook from Amazon’s kindle store. Amazon’s vice president Ian Freed said, “Amazon does not expect that this app will cannibalize Kindle sales as users will probably only use their phones to read for short periods”.
After the installation, a new option will appear in the Kindle store to send ebooks to your iPhone unfortunately you can’t browse the Kindle store through the iPhone. You can buy e-books only on the amazon’s website and you should be in the US. It also offers actual app features of an e-book reader, like to change the font size, bookmark pages, and jump directly to different chapters.
