The new version of Opera is enriched with many features; an improved user interface design, customizable speed dial, web integration, Opera Turbo, built-in spell-checker and many more; you can find them at the Opera page.
One of the notable features that is loved by most net users is Opera Turbo. It is a compression technology which is designed to significantly improve browsing speeds over limited bandwidth connections. Hence people accessing the net with a crowded Wi-Fi, can experience high speed like never before.
When a web browser crashes, the total web pages that were browsed so far will be closed and lost. Where as the Automated Crash Reporting feature of Opera is designed to restart and recover all your tabs if a crash occurs. Also, you can send a crash report to the Opera team to fix the bug.
My favorite feature of Opera 10 is Speed Dial your way with which users can choose about 25 favorite web sites for quick access, and add a custom background as well to customize their browser.
The improved version of Dragonfly, a cross device, cross platform debugging environment for the Opera browser enables web developers to edit the DOM and inspect HTTP headers.
Knoppix is a product of GNU/Linux which doesn’t require installation to be used.
Its inventor is Klaus Knopper who gave it a similar name. Its first goal was to be a demonstration CD. Now it’s more! Knoppix contents 2GB and it integrates an important number of fields like office automation, internet, games… In order to download knoppix, just visit knoppix.
You just have to insert the CDrom, reboot your computer and the software will work. It will not change your operating system. However you can use it as your permanent and complete operating system.
Its main treasure is that it is always updated. You can personalize it easily. The user can make his own CD that can content his software and data. Your PC will become a work station without a hard disk. You can navigate on the web and set your own parameters. All is recorded in your history and you avoid web viruses like Trojan, cookies etc
You can use it to save your informatics data if your computer doesn’t work anymore. A user said he saved 90% of his unsafe documents thanks to Knoppix. We understand his enthusiasm!
A lot of users are impressed by its effectiveness and the quality. The programs are complete. And as it doesn’t need installation to run; all work is done in 3 minutes.
Nothing more need be said about its advantages!
In general, an enterprise comprises of groups of individuals who have to collaborate and share knowledge for the accomplishment of collective goals. Task software helps the captain of the ship to delegate tasks, track the work status and get it done in time.
The main cause for losing any project or downturn of any company is improper management. So it becomes a must for any company to own a to-do list software. Task management software tools are available in plenty.
The normally expected features of task managing tools are smooth handling of tasks i.e. easy to check task list uncluttered with old completed tasks, access to to-do list software, categorizing tasks with keywords for easy grouping of tasks, deadline reminders and much more.
For achieving success, you have to have a strong leader setting a direction. Task management software is the a must use software for any organization to set off in the right direction.
A new video game company called Upstart OnLive is launching a cloud-based gaming system promising on-demand access to games and no lag time. The main aim of the OnLive is to challenge the big three console Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony.
The company expects to launch its service in the winter of 2009, and claims that users can play games on any TV, personal computer, net books and PCs without graphics processors. Rather running locally on a PC or console, cloud-based gaming system run on servers in the “cloud”.
“When you want to play a game, you just click a button and it plays instantly,” said Steve Perlman, OnLive’s founder and chief executive. “It’s that simple.”
W3C has formed W3C HTML working group in 2007 to develop HTML 5 with extensive features as the specifications of older version HTML 4.0.1 are inadequate for today’s requirements of web development.
HTML 5 will provide a number of new elements and attributes that reflect typical usage on modern Web sites. In older version, div elements are not used more specifically. HTML 5 addresses this issue by introducing new elements like <header>, <nav>, <footer> etc for representing each of these different sections. Such tags would facilitate indexing by search engines and handling by small-screen devices or voice readers for the visually impaired.
The video and audio on the web has become increasingly viable, and Flash is currently the only widely deployed plug-in that provides a cross-browser compatible solution with the desired APIs for developers. The plan is to provide player functionalities like play, pause, stop etc in browsers by adding native support for embedding video and audio and providing DOM APIs for scripts to control the playback. The new video and audio elements make this really easy.
Other notable elements are:
Section – It represents a generic document or application section. It can be used together with h1-h6 to indicate the document structure.
Article – It represents an independent piece of content of a document, such as a blog entry or newspaper article.
Canvas – It is used for rendering dynamic bitmap graphics on the fly, such as graphs, games, et cetera.
Command – It represents a command the user can invoke.
Datagrid – It represents an interactive representation of a tree list or tabular data.
Details – It represents additional information or controls which the user can obtain on demand. D
W3C have planned to release the proposed specifications in 2012, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait that long. You can start using some of the new things in HTML 5 as a lot of modern browsers have already implemented the <canvas> element like Mozilla Firefox which has partially implemented it since version 1.5.
