Spaces are IBM-owned micro-sites focused on a software project, development activity, user group community, technical expert, or any other technical subject. Spaces are dashboards, or aggregators of resources. While only IBM employees can own a space, anyone can request to join a space and may be granted administrator or editor privileges.

Today, Dell has planned to unveil the first Latitude E6400 XFR laptop with a touch screen and capacity to withstand drops, dust and high-pressure water sprays. The laptop was designed according to U.S. military specifications targeting users like military personnel and first responders.

The laptop can withstand rain and wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour, and can work in temperatures from -20 degrees Fahrenheit (-33.88 degrees Celsius) to 145 degrees Fahrenheit (63 degrees Celsius), the company claims. It can also work for an hour at an altitude of 15,000 feet.

The laptop is also designed to withstand drops of around 4 feet (48 inches) when not operating and 36 inches when operational. The LCD screen floats a little bit within the LCD cover so it can take impacts and shock, said Jeremy Bolen, a Dell spokesman.

During demonstration, the laptop weathered jetted water and 3-foot drops while running, but the non-operational 4-foot drop proved to be a problem. After a third drop from 4 feet, the LCD screen’s protective plastic cover shattered.

However, Dell explained that the demo laptop was a pre-production model that had already been dropped a hundred times and the crack might be due to that. And Bolen said that there’s a three-year warranty on the machine and a cracked screen will be replaced immediately.

O2 has designed a new high-tech calendar and called it as Joggler. In a busy and tension full life no one have time to remember any special occasion, friends and family members birthday, wedding anniversary. Virtual calendar designed for the purpose of reminding them the special events.

Joggler comes with a touch screen and 1 GB memory in which about 100 videos or songs can be saved/played. It can be connected to the internet through Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable. Apart from sending messages, it also plays up to 100 videos or songs stored with its 1GB internal memory, and displays up to 200 pictures, as well as play games, such as Sudoku.

O2 has also signed a deal with satellite broadcaster Sky, to provide the latest news and sport headlines, along with weather forecasts and traffic reports.

On 7^th December Intel announced that it is claiming “world record” for their future optical communication. Intel going to use silicon photonics for optical communication, particularly this will be useful for high bandwidth applications. Wordpress has planned to do more update in their next release. It has around 400 program changes including 200 changes in main program, and fixed more blocker bugs. Comments, Theme & Plugin related and Greater controls are going to play main role in this. In December 10, Wordpress will release self hosted blogs.
