On 7th December Intel announced that it is claiming “world record” for their future optical communication. Intel going to use silicon photonics for optical communication, particularly this will be useful for high bandwidth applications. Ultra fast transfer of date in future computers powered by many processors cores – Intel. “This research result is another example of how silicon can be used to create very high-performing optical devices,” the development can be used not only in optical communications but areas such as sensing, imaging, quantum cryptography, and biological applications, Mario Paniccia, an Intel Fellow and director of the company’s Photonics Technology Lab.

Wordpress has planned to do more update in their next release. It has around 400 program changes including 200 changes in main program, and fixed more blocker bugs. Comments, Theme & Plugin related and Greater controls are going to play main role in this. In December 10, Wordpress will release self hosted blogs. New icon designers selected from winners of their icon design contest, are also specially employed for this update.

Myspace introduced a new application for Research In Motion’s Blackberry smartphones, with in one week it has been downloaded by 400,000 people. Facebook had launched the first application for Blackberry in late 2007. Both Myspace and Facebook move deeper into mobile applications, and launched their application for iPhone.

Adobe system has released a public beta of CoCoMo, it’s a hosted service that helps developers to add video conferencing, voice-over-IP and other collaboration features to applications built with its Flex developer tools. The services include file-sharing, chat, data messaging and a multi-user whiteboard. “Our view is there should be a balance of each; not wholly on the client and not wholly in the cloud,” - Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch.

Microsoft have planned to introduce windows live portal like Facebook on his next release of its online services and applications, it’s going to become like a online community website. “We are integrating the notions of social networking, e-mail and instant messaging into a consistent experience” Chris Jones, corporate vice president of Windows Live at Microsoft. For this project Microsoft has partnered with Flickr, iLike, LinkedIn, Yelp, Flixster, Pandora, Twitter, Photobucket and Tripit.

Google added audio and video chat into it’s free email services on Tuesday. Microsoft and Yahoo are joined with Google to make a better communication on web. “I think it’s a nice addition and some people will use it, but I don’t think it will drive huge adoption of Gmail,” said Greg Sterling, of Sterling Market Intelligence, referring to Google’s free e-mail service.
