Wordpress announced the availability of BackType connect plugin for standalone wordpress blog. This plugin uses the newly-updated connect API to integrate comments from different sources around the internet directly in to the WordPress comment system, and comment import happens quickly.
Initially it collects all comments made by authors using a specific URL on a number of different services.
BackType works in wordpress directly, there is no additional registration needed. After activation of the plugin on blog, it queries the BackType connect database with a particular post URL and starts to import the wordpress comment database, including a footnote with a source of the comment. The BT connect services icons are displayed with comments to indicate where the comments are coming from.
Wordpress has planned to do more update in their next release. It has around 400 program changes including 200 changes in main program, and fixed more blocker bugs. Comments, Theme & Plugin related and Greater controls are going to play main role in this. In December 10, Wordpress will release self hosted blogs. New icon designers selected from winners of their icon design contest, are also specially employed for this update.
