Happy 20th birthday, the Web ! Monday, July 13, 2009

We are more than 1.6 billion to use internet. It belongs to daily life, but do you remember the first step of this incredible invention?  Do you know how old is Internet?

The World Wide Web is celebrating its twenty years! Enjoy this birthday to make a summary of its history and evolution which has produced.

Twenty years earlier, a main scientist invented a mean to share academic researches and discoveries through the world. But the real start invention of information network was ARPANET birthed in 70’s. Tim Berners-Lee created a new way to manage information online and to share them. One year later, the proposition is accepted and it’s the birthday of WorldWideWeb.

However the launch of internet was linked to commercial and politics stakes. In 1993, America’s National Science Foundation decided to spread the use of this network to public and not only to academic world.

Evolutions began to follow one after one, and the war between search engines is birthed. Today it’s a big commercial challenge.

However the real event is of course, the birthday of this spectacular discovery but in particular all the changes in our lives which it leads. To communicate free, to share videos, photos, to find all information in one click, it is the real progress! So we can all wish a happy birthday Internet!
